Join us Thursday as Linkenbach, Hirsch, Ritz, and I talk about how advancing the positive and creating PCEs helps organizations identify best practices and grow, and supports community transformation, ultimately fostering mental health by helping prevent multigenerational isolation, addiction, abuse — adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Identifying, focusing on, lifting up, and scaling the positive can help create systems change.

Jeff Linkenbach, PhD, a research scientist, created the frameworks of the Science of the Positive and Positive Community Norms. He is the founding director of The Montana Institute. His frameworks are being implemented across North America by federal, tribal, state, and local organizations to achieve positive community change and transformation with public health issues such as child maltreatment, substance abuse, injury prevention, and traffic safety. Linkenbach has worked with, among other organizations, The White House, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association, Harvard University, The Carter Center, and The National Football League.

Carla Ritz, Managing Director of The Montana Institute, is a longtime child welfare advocate and applies the Science of the Positive in communities across the country.

Sharon Hirsch is the president and CEO of Positive Childhood Alliance-NC (PCA-NC), the North Carolina chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. Hirsch will discuss how shifting the organization’s focus—and even its name—to emphasize creating flourishing children and families has fueled growth, engagement, and impact across the state.
